"I'm not going to lie to you Chris...I can't really see a future here."

Chris looks away.

"Neither can I."

She looks at her with some sympathy, "I believe that if things are going to end...it's better to end things quickly before anyone can really get hurt."

Chris hadn't thought about it from that angle. Now that Jack had told her he loved her, maybe she should.

Maybe it would be better to end things now...

"Michelle, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to go to my room and rest. Maybe we could watch the show another time?"

"Are you feeling okay?" Michelle hadn't really realized she was giving advice.

Chris gets to her feet.

"I'm just tired. I think the alcohol is kicking in." It was but that wasn't the only reason she was leaving. Right now she wanted to be alone with her thoughts.

"Okay...I can understand that. Get some water before you go to sleep." Michelle says sort of helpfully. "I'll see you later, Chris." She stands to walk her to the door.

Things are starting to connect in her mind and she realizes she might have said something she can't take back.

She's probably just tired...

"Later, Michelle," she says before leaving.

She wasn't sure how she was going to sleep tonight.

Michelle gives her a small smile, "Bye Chris." She closes the door and walks back to the couch. She sits down and then she realizes exactly what she just did.

She can't tell Tony and she can only hope that Chris decides against taking her accidental advice. She hadn't meant to say that, really, but since she said it she can't pretend she meant anything else.

"Dammit," she whispers and she really wants a cigarette.

Tony fulfilled Michelle's request and stayed away for two hours, milling about downstairs, reading a newspaper, drinking something non-alcoholic and avoiding the cigarettes. When he observed that his two hours were up, he eagerly left his newspaper and drinks and headed upstairs to room 48.

Which is where he is now.

Knock knock.

Michelle comes out of the bathroom, her head covered with a towel and wearing a robe. She takes off the towel and opens the door.

"Hey,"

"Hey," he says, giving her small peck on the lips. "Chris still here?"

She kisses him back quickly, "No, she left a while ago."

He tilts his head. "Everything okay?"

She rubs her forehead a little, "Do you remember when Maria was dating Charlie and we were talking and she asked me for some advice?"

"Ah, yeah."

He closes the door behind him, trying not to look too...distressed.

"I think I accidentally gave Chris some advice."

Tony stops.

Tony stares.

Tony heads over to the table with the champagne.

"You're gonna need this."

She nods, "Can you open it?"

"Yeah."

Which he does.

She walks over to get a glass of champagne.

He hands her the glass.

And sips at his own.

"You know...Maria and Charlie...weren't...really meant for each other."

She takes a large sip of her drink and drapes her towel over a chair. "I know, but I probably...shouldn't have said that."

"Listen, Michelle... I don't claim to know what's going on in Jack and Chris's heads. I can only make decisions based on what I see, and I don't see any kind of future coming out of this. Whatever you said, it was the right thing to say."

"That's basically what I told her," she takes another sip, half the glass already gone. "And I told her that I think if things are going to end, it's better if they end before anyone gets hurt."
