She has the urge to smoke another cigarette, as if she can take the stress she's feeling and exhale it with the smoke.

Her fingers tap lightly against the couch. "We've decided on a day for the wedding."

"Really? What day?"

"September 18. Which gives us a little over a month to plan it. Did you know that Jack's Tony's Best Man?"

"The 18th?" Chris looks surprised.

"No, I didn't but that sounds right. He and Tony have been through a lot together it seems."

She nods, "I know it's a strange choice...well, if we wait any longer it'll be too cold to have the wedding outside and I don't think we want 9/11 as our new wedding anniversary."

"They have," Michelle agrees. "Tony's known him longer than anyone else here, except of course for Kim."

"No, I was just thinking it's around my birthday. But you're right, there's not a lot of good days in September to choose from. Too bad, it's a popular month for weddings."

And speaking of weddings, a certain engaged male approaches the door with a bottle of champagne and two glasses, singing in a very loud voice:

Here would be the part where Tony walks through the door and sees that someone other that Michelle is in. Oh, dear.

"Ah, hi. Chris."

Chris smiles, it's a look between amusement and nervousness. "Hi, Tony."

She looks at Michelle. "I should probably go if you two have plans..."

Michelle's smiling because Tony's song was...interesting. "Hey Tony, Chris and I were just talking about the wedding."

"Please, stay, I'm sure the champagne will keep..."

"Ah. Well, I don't wanna interupt you guys, if you're busy. I'll just...stay in the bedroom and read."

"Actually, Tony...we're kind of talking about some sensitive things...can you come back in about two hours?" She asks in a kind but no-nonsense voice.

"Uh, right. I'll just leave the champagne on the table..."

Which he does.

And with that, he's gone.

Chris shrugs. After growing up with her father her idea of "harsh" is probably a little warped.

"I don't think so."

Michelle nods, "Anyway, what were we talking about?

I'm going to have to make that up to him tonight...

"The wedding."

"Are you okay?"

Chris shrugs. "Yeah, I'm all right."

Michelle grabs a handful of popcorn and puts one in her mouth. She chews thoughtfully. "Did you ever find Jack?"

"Where? At the reception? Yeah, right after I spoke with you."

"You don't seem all that enthused about it," Michelle observes.

"It's just a little awkward for me to talk about Jack, or my relationship with him."

"I can understand that, but it's also kind of obvious that you need to..."

Chris rubs her hands together, it's a nervous gesture. "I just..."

She looks down at her hands. "I don't know what people must think of me. Or maybe I do."
